In 2006, the program began as a regional effort for all LULAC Councils in North Texas to participate in as an end of the year wrap-up during the holidays. The program was started by the North Texas LULAC District Executive Board, led by Coty Rodriguez Anderson who was the North Texas LULAC District 3 Director from 2004-2008. Since 2006, each December, Collin County LULAC Council #4537 has partnered with a local K-12 school to provide meals, winter coats and shoes to families in need. Members adopt families identified by the school.
In previous years we have also assisted with special circumstances identified by school administrators and teachers. These circumstances have included providing shoes or coats for the elderly living in the home; paying for an exterminator, & paying for a new mattress.
We have also provided hygiene kits for teenagers and pre-teens.
During the pandemic, we continued to provide food boxes and warm coats and shoes to families in Colin County.
Become a LULAC member today & you can be part of our 2024 program!
For nearly 30 years, we have provided money to graduating HS seniors & college students from Collin County. Money is raised through online campaigns & in-person events.
